Our Story

Ameda has been making breast pumps since 1942.

That year, Swedish engineer Einar Egnell began studying how babies actually feed: the rhythm, the pressure, the pauses. He built a pump designed around that rather than around the machinery. The research he published became a foundation for modern breast pump design, and the principles behind it are still in every Ameda pump.

Today Ameda pumps are used in maternity wards and neonatal units around the world, and at home by mothers expressing daily, occasionally, or somewhere in between. The same closed HygieniKit system runs through the hospital and consumer ranges.

Ameda is WHO Code compliant and supports the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.
