A mother sits outdoors in a garden, expressing with an Ameda GLO wearable breast pump

Two pumps. Hands-free, wherever the day takes you

The Ameda GLO Wearable Breast Pump is supplied as a complete double pump set — two wearable pumps, two collection cups, flanges and four insert sizes — so you can express both sides at once, hands-free. It sits discreetly inside your bra with no external tubing or bottles, so you can express while you work, drive, chase a toddler, or simply have both hands back.

At just 244g per pump and quiet in operation, GLO is designed around a simple, easy-to-clean system with few parts. From Ameda, the brand trusted by hospitals and loved by mums for more than 80 years.

Getting the right fit

A good flange fit matters. It can make expressing more comfortable and help you express more milk. GLO comes with 24mm flanges plus 17mm, 19mm and 21mm soft inserts, and further sizes are available separately if none of those is quite right.

Troubleshooting

My pump will not turn on

Press and hold the power button for at least three seconds. A quick press will not turn it on. Check the pump is fully charged, and disconnect the charging cable before trying to switch it on. If it still will not start, hold the power button for 15 seconds to reset it.

My pump turns off by itself

That is how it is designed to behave. The GLO shuts off automatically after 30 minutes of continuous pumping, or after 15 minutes in pause mode.

Low suction, or no suction at all

Check that all parts are assembled correctly, particularly the valve and diaphragm, and that both are fully seated so they form a seal. Inspect the parts for tears, holes or warping. If both pumps behave the same way, it is more likely to be fit, assembly or cleaning than a fault with the motor.

The suction feels uneven

This is usually normal. The pump starts in Stimulation mode for two minutes, then switches automatically to Expression mode, and that transition can feel like a change in suction. The GLO also remembers your last suction level and may return to it, so it is worth lowering the setting before you start if the previous one felt too strong.

Milk is leaking while I pump

Leaking usually comes down to flange size or fit, pumping while lying down or reclined, or the flange not being sealed properly to the collection cup. Pump sitting upright, check the fit, and make sure the valve is the right way round. The Instructions for Use show correct valve placement.

Pumping is uncomfortable

Lower the suction level first, then check your flange size, as a size that is too small or too large is a common cause of discomfort. If it still hurts, stop and speak to a lactation consultant or call the Australian Breastfeeding Association helpline on 1800 686 268.

The battery will not charge, or does not last

Use a standard 1 amp charging block, up to a maximum of 2 amps. Fast-charging or high-output blocks can damage the motor. Remove the collection cup from the motor while charging, and charge for a full two hours until three solid bars show on the display. A full charge lasts approximately 100 minutes of pumping, so the GLO needs recharging between uses.

Protecting your pump

  • Use a standard 1 amp charging block. Fast-charging blocks can damage the motor.
  • Remove the collection cup before charging.
  • Never pour milk out of the cup while the motor is attached.
  • Keep the motor and display dry at all times, and never submerge the motor.
  • Do not pump while lying down or reclined.
